What is TritonTV?

What is TritonTV?

TritonTV is UC San Diego’s first and only student-run film studio and TV station. We offer UCSD students the opportunity to work in a professional production environment with no prior experience required. We train our members from scratch and provide them with the equipment and education they need to produce excellent videos.

TritonTV is an AS Service.

Mission Statement:

Triton Television is about creating a community through collaborative problem solving revolving around film production and education. As an Associated Student Service, we extend our community to the student body and provide resources to meet their production needs.

Triton Television provides learning experiences through a quarterly educational program to develop student skills in film production through hands on workshops and through client based projects that we take on from on and off campus.

  • To promote student life on campus through various media channels
  • To educate students in film production
  • To build a community around a common passion for film and television
  • To build and maintain connections with clients and professionals
  • To inform students on stories and issues that prevalent to UCSD

How do I become a member of TritonTV?

To make a complex structure very simple, TritonTV offers two types of memberships: Regular Member and Producer. Members may attend TritonTV General Body Meetings and volunteer to help out on TritonTV projects, in front of or behind the camera. Producers may use TritonTV equipment to produce their own videos, but in order to maintain their producership they are obligated and assigned to work on TritonTV projects as well. Thus,TTV Producership requires a medium to large time commitment, while regular Membership is on a more voluntary basis.

To become a TritonTV Member, all you have to do is join us in one of our General Body Meetings. Our GBMs are held Thursdays at 7pm every odd week (ie. weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9). The first meeting (10/3/2013) will take place in the STUDENT LEADERSHIP CHAMBERS in Price Center EAST*, on the fourth floor. (Map) South East corner.

sp (1)For students who would like to take the next step and become a TTV Producer, we offer our quarterly Internship Program in which our prospective producers, or “interns”, attend weekly meetings and are challenged to create their own productions. These
meetings, led by the executive staff of TritonTV, serve as education, training, and recruitment. Upon graduation of the quarter-long program, each intern will be promoted to Producer. The first intern meeting of spring quarter 2013 is Sunday, October 6th at 2pm in the TritonTV studio. We are located on the second floor of the Old Student Center, adjacent to Treehouse Lounge and next to Porter’s Pub.
